Teaching

Heather is a skilled music educator, primarily teaching private clarinet lessons on Long Island. She has more than 15 years of teaching experience working with beginners through college students. In addition to maintaining a private studio, Heather is a frequent guest lecturer at Hofstra University on the topic of clarinet teaching methods. She is an Eastern Suffolk Boces Arts-In-Education Artist/Presenter and has served as a Staten Island Philharmonic Teaching Artist.

Heather’s approach to teaching is to meet each student at their level and help them become the best musician they can be. She believes building a strong technical foundation must be paired from the beginning with expression and artistry, and she guides students to listen deeply and take ownership of their musical decisions, helping them to gain the confidence that comes from building skills and finding their voice.
